EU employee on a local Dutch labour contract

When you hire an EU employee on a local Dutch labour contract no immigration procedure is required.

EU employee on assignment

When your EU employee stays on contract in the country of residence and is seconded to the Netherlands, the Posted Workers Directive applies. You will have to notify the Ministry of Social Affairs or let Anywr Netherlands do it on your behalf.

In either situation the following steps in the relocation are the most important:

Prepare your employee for the relocation, depending where s/he comes from some things might be very different in the Netherlands.
If your employee brings a family: find a school for the children. Depending on how long your employee wants to stay this can either be a local or an international school.
Registration at the local municipality, if your employee intends to stay longer than 4 months this is mandatory. The output of this registration is a BSN, that is required for many things among which salary payments.
Obtain (at least) a basic health insurance, which also mandatory when your employee stays in the Netherlands longer than 4 months.
Find a doctor and a dentist who have room for your employee in their practices. Explain the healthcare system in the Netherlands as this might be very different from the current country of residence.
Book a temporary accommodation for the first period in the Netherlands.
Find a suitable property to live. In the current market this is not so easy, your employee should be prepared for this.
Open a bank account in the Netherlands.
