Many expats wonder whether they are eligible for the 30% ruling. The 30% ruling offers compensation for the extra costs that people from abroad make when they choose to live and work in the Netherlands.

The most important requirements for the 30% ruling are:
– salary level;
– recruitment from abroad (also applicable when you change employers in the Netherlands, originally you must have been recruited from abroad);
– former residency on more than 150 kilometers from the Dutch border in 16 out of 24 months before your move to the Netherlands.
If you stayed in the Netherlands in earlier days these stays will be deducted from the total length of your 30% ruling.
